Calling All Girls to the Trail: MTB “Try-It-Out” Ride Rolls Into Grafton May 16

GRAFTON — Local girls are invited to gear up, make new friends, and embrace the thrill of mountain biking at the upcoming GRiT (Girls Riding Together) “Try-It-Out” Ride, hosted by Ozaukee Mountain Bike Club (OZ MTB) and the Washington County Trail Sharks. The free event will take place Friday, May 16, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Nature Park in Grafton.

Open to all female student-athletes in grades 5 through 12, the evening promises a mix of trail rides, skill-building games, and high-energy fun — no experience required. Whether you’re new to mountain biking or a seasoned rider, the event offers a welcoming space to ride, connect, and grow.

“We want girls to see that mountain biking is for them — it’s about confidence, camaraderie, and pure fun,” said Mark Clegg of OZ MTB. “No pressure, no cuts — just a great time outdoors.”

First-time riders are especially encouraged to join, and returning riders, as well as GRiT ally coaches, are invited to come out and support the event. The GRiT program, part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), is dedicated to getting more girls on bikes and creating inclusive cycling communities across the country.
